Harnessing the Power of Wool

UNUSUWUL is a RESEARCH and DEVELOPMENT studio championing the diversity of WOOL fibres.

Set up by knitwear designer Nicci James UNUSUWUL develops garments and textiles which celebrate the properties of the fibres they are made from, retaining qualities and behaviours that can be traced right back to the fleece.

Assorted small handmade knitted and crocheted textile swatches arranged on a blue surface, some with yellow accents and tags attached.

Nicci James formed UNUSUWUL in 2023 to bring both her innovative process and extensive wool research to fashion and textiles clients.

Using the UNUSUWUL PROCESS Nicci develops garments and textiles which celebrate the properties of the yarns they are made from, retaining qualities and behaviours that can be traced right back to the fleece.
